Instructions for Post Root Canal Therapy

  • The tooth may be tender to biting and chewing for the next 4-5 days.
  • If there is any increased swelling or pain, call right away.
  • Avoid chewing on the root canal tooth.
  • For pain, if you can take Advil, take 4 Advil with food or take 2 Tylenol.
  • If you’ve been placed on an antibiotic, be sure to take as directed, and make sure you finish the entire course of antibiotic.
  • Following root canal therapy, the tooth will be protected with a post reinforced buildup and a crown.
